the “let them” theory
– embracing the freedom from judgement and unnecessary expectations
We all experienced feeling conscious of our actions, fearing what others have to say about us. We feel like walking on eggshells, treading carefully to avoid falling into the depths of judgement, unnecessary criticism, and misunderstanding.
In a world where opinions are freely thrown around, it's easy to feel trapped in the cycle of seeking the approval of others. We begin to filter our words, rethink our choices, and change ourselves into versions that fit societal expectations, often forgetting who we truly are.
Which made me think, what if we simply let them?
When you speak your thoughts freely, let them misunderstand.
When you do something beyond societal expectations, let them judge.
When they treat you poorly, let them treat you poorly.
Let them. Welcome to life. Bad things happen to good people, to everyone.
As you read this, something horrible has happened to someone in this world.
Someone's got fired at work, someone failed a test, someone broke their leg today, someone lost a loved one – that is what it means to be human.
"To live is to suffer, to survive is to find meaning in the suffering." – Friedrich Nietzsche
In life, we have really good moments, and we experience really bad ones – there is no way we can control any external factors or stop this from happening. But what we can truly do is control how we react to them and possibly how we can avoid putting ourselves into that situation.
But again, we can’t avoid bad things from happening altogether. That is the hardest thing about being human – our emotions.
We feel so deeply – joy, love, pain, grief. Yet, despite the unpredictability of life, we keep going for the people we care about and for ourselves. We keep loving, hoping, and dreaming for a better tomorrow, even when we know that eventually, we get to experience the sorrows of life.
That's the paradox of being human: we crave happiness, yet we also have to endure sorrow; we seek control, yet we also have to accept uncertainty.
In the uncertainty of life, we still have to find beauty in it all. So, when it feels overwhelming, let it be.
Let the pain teach you.
Let the struggles shape you.
Let the losses remind you of what truly matters.
Let the chaos of life unfold, the storms to come and go, for even the strongest winds couldn't break a soul that knows how to face them just as fiercely.
Remember, you are not obliged to please everyone. You are not meant to live by someone else's script, You are here to learn, to grow, to stumble, and to rise among the strongest of waves. To feel everything – fully, unapologetically, and beautifully.
So, let them talk. Let them doubt. Let them misunderstand.
While they do, you keep living. Keep embracing life’s highs and lows, keep chasing your dreams, and keep becoming the person you are meant to be. In the end, the only opinion that truly matters is the one you hold about yourself.
